Dive into the world of our stellar team member, Duane Barkakoti, who brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm as our paid media manager. From managing paid media accounts to finding innovative solutions, Duane is at the forefront of our strategic endeavours.

What do you do at Discovery Agency?

I manage paid media accounts, look at finding solutions to problems, and find cost-effective routes to market.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I can’t sleep in, so being an early bird is a somewhat unwanted default. However, living in Ibiza for five years of my life also created equally unwanted bouts of insomnia so I'm saddled with both!

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Concentrate less on prioritising pleasure and focus more on long-term goals. Finances and healthcare seem highly irrelevant and boring in your early years but you’ll appreciate them when your hair goes grey, your joints feel stiff and you’ve no more mortgage payments.

If you were handed £1 million today, what would you do with it?

I’d purchase an old farm miles from anywhere and set up a dog rescue sanctuary, especially focusing on the older ones who are unlikely to find rehoming solutions. Just make their lives as comfortable as I could and they can bark as much as they like without annoying anyone.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

Walking my dogs Roscoe and Bella or painting (I went to Art College!)

If you could choose a name for yourself, what would it be?

Doubtful it would be my current one! I get some really awkward and uncomfortable pronunciations of it and spellings too. If someone calls me and asks for ‘Doo-Ann’ then the call is terminated instantly!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

To borrow Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility, I could sneak into Robert Bigelow’s aerospace organisation and see all the crashed spaceships and aliens in jars, then read all the top secret files the CIA is holding back about literally everything.

What’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like?

Lady Gaga. She's uniquely creative but far from the usual sort of genre I listen to.

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?

I’ve travelled a lot but have yet to experience seeing wildlife in Africa so something like a safari in Kenya would be right up there.

What is your favourite quote?

Greg Davies (Man Down): “Get my baby off that hippy’s tit.”

OR Sir Winston Churchill “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.”
